About The Position

This position performs assigned labor tasks to assist in proper course and grounds maintenance of outside areas at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. The role involves manual labor, operation of equipment, and teamwork to achieve maintenance goals.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
No prior experience is necessary.
Ability to work with others as a team.
Ability to understand and abide by environmental practices.
Must follow proper grooming and dress standards.
Maintain open line of communication with direct supervisor.
Ability to pick up new tasks with proper training.
Ability to complete job assignments without direct supervision for most of the day.
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Must be able to pass a background investigation and drug screen.
Must be able to withstand extended hours of shoveling, raking, holding and operating a gas powered string trimmer and working on your knees.
Must be able to withstand extended hours of sitting on rough riding power equipment.
Frequent bending to work on the ground.
Frequent lifting of things off the ground.
Ability to lift awkward objects weighing up to 60 pounds and sometimes more, from the ground to at least waist high.
Use of power equipment such as lawn mowers, including riding lawn mowers, and power string trimmers.

Similar previous experience.
Previous work in outdoor conditions is a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform manual labor including shoveling, raking, pushing a lawn mower, planting flowers, and trimming trees and shrubs.
Operate power or manual equipment safely and properly to complete assigned tasks.
Work collaboratively with others as a team to achieve assigned tasks.
Dig holes and trenches on grounds.
Lay sod.
Cut cups regularly.
Perform hand watering of turf.
Edge cart paths, sidewalks, and curbs.
Edge bunkers and pull weeds in bunkers.
Add sand, redistribute sand, and push up sand in bunkers.
Perform fly mowing of bunker faces and ledges.
Perform string trimming.
Conduct leaf removal/clean up and trash pick up.
Report to work on time and complete all scheduled shifts.
Attend monthly safety meetings and any pre-scheduled department meetings.
Assist other departments when requested.
Help train other employees on certain job tasks when necessary.
Understand and abide by environmental practices of the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa.
Maintain good rapport with fellow employees and reflect a positive attitude.
Complete all assignments requested.
Follow proper grooming and dress standards set forth by the Employee Handbook.
Maintain open communication with the direct supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned.
