About The Position

This position performs assigned labor tasks to assist in proper course and grounds maintenance of outside areas at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. The role involves manual labor such as shoveling, raking, operating lawn mowers, planting flowers, and trimming trees and shrubs. It requires the safe and proper operation of power or manual equipment to complete assigned tasks and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. The position also includes tasks like digging holes, laying sod, cutting cups, hand watering turf, edging, bunker maintenance, string trimming, and general clean-up. Employees are expected to report to work on time, attend safety and department meetings, and assist other departments when requested. Understanding and abiding by environmental practices, maintaining good rapport with colleagues, and following company dress standards are also key aspects of the role. Communication with supervisors and completing assigned duties are essential.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• No prior experience is necessary.
• Ability to pick up new tasks with proper training.
• Ability to complete job assignments without direct supervision for most of the day.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Must understand and abide by environmental practices of the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa.
• Must follow proper grooming and dress standards set forth by the Employee Handbook.
• Must be able to pass a background investigation and a drug screen as a condition of employment.
• Must adhere to company policies regarding strict confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual labor including shoveling, raking, planting flowers, and trimming trees and shrubs.
• Operate power or manual equipment safely and properly to complete assigned tasks.
• Work with others as a team to achieve common goals.
• Dig holes and trenches on grounds.
• Lay sod.
• Cut cups regularly.
• Hand water turf.
• Edge cart paths, sidewalks, and curbs.
• Edge bunkers and pull weeds in bunkers.
• Add sand, redistribute sand, and push up sand in bunkers.
• Fly mow bunker faces and ledges.
• Perform string trimming.
• Conduct leaf removal, clean-up, and trash pick-up.
• Report to work on time and complete all scheduled shifts.
• Attend monthly safety meetings and department meetings.
• Assist other departments when requested.
• Help train other employees on certain job tasks when necessary.
• Understand and abide by environmental practices.
• Maintain good rapport with fellow employees and reflect a positive attitude.
• Complete all assignments requested.
• Follow proper grooming and dress standards.
• Maintain open communication with direct supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
