GNC Modeling & Simulation Engineer - Orlando, FL
About The Position
Lockheed Martin is seeking an experienced Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer who will specialize in Modeling and Simulation (M&S) of complex technical solutions. This person will join a highly skilled team of systems engineering technologists and algorithm developers supporting various contracts and IRADs within Missiles and Fire Control. The role involves designing and documenting model and simulation requirements and architecture, developing, verifying, and validating complex models and simulations (e.g., missile 6-DOF simulations, effects-based simulations), evaluating system performance in complex scenarios, performing critical studies and analyses, and supporting ground and flight test efforts including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities. The candidate will also support program reviews and technical interchange meetings. Experience in weapon system and/or sensor modeling, integrating MATLAB and C++ models with tactical software, and proficiency in C++ and MATLAB are required. Good communication and collaboration skills are essential.
Requirements
- Post secondary STEM degree with 1+ years of relevant experience
- Interim clearance needed to start
- US Citizen
- Willing to work onsite in a classified area or lab environment
- Demonstrated experience in digital simulation development for infrared sensor systems
- Professionally demonstrated advanced proficiency in C++
- Professionally demonstrated advanced proficiency in Matlab or Python
- Professionally demonstrated strong math skills in the areas of linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry, and coordinate transformations
- Strong written/verbal communication and organizational and interpersonal skills
- Experience in weapon system and/or sensor modeling
- Experience with synthetic modeled environments used to stimulate simulated hardware
- Proficient in C++ and MATLAB
- Comfortable working in a collaborative environment

- Experience operating in Linux environments
- Experience with Agile development
- Experience performing one or more of the following technical GNC assignments: Develop and analyze algorithms such as guidance, navigation, autopilot, inertial tracking, and servo control algorithms; Develop and/or verify/validate complex vehicle models and simulations such as missile 6-degree-of-freedom simulations; Develop, verify and validate complex Electro Optical / InfraRed and/or Radio Frequency sensor models; Ability to perform preflight system performance assessment and post flight verification analyses
- Experience deploying algorithms that satisfy real-time performance requirements
- Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines and software version control such as Git
Responsibilities
- Design and documentation of model and simulation requirements and architecture
- Develop, verify, and validate both complex models and simulations such as missile 6-degree-of-freedom simulations (6-DOF) and effects-based simulations
- Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments and verify system and subsystem level requirements
- Perform critical studies, analyses, and test activities
- Support ground and flight test efforts including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities
- Support program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and/or external customers
- Integrate MATLAB models, C++ models, and actual tactical software into the simulations
