The GME Coordinator serves as the lead administrative person for the GME residency/fellowship program, managing and overseeing daily operations and activities. This role functions as a key liaison with learners, faculty, staff, and the ACGME. The coordinator collaborates with the GME Program Director and leadership to design, implement, and manage administrative and academic operations, including educational activities that support the program's curriculum and adhere to ACGME requirements. The position provides guidance on program and GME policies, creates and maintains policies and procedures, and interprets them for various stakeholders. The role involves managing confidential materials, acting as a liaison between the Program Director and internal/external offices, and managing the Residency Management System (RMS). Additionally, the GME Coordinator develops initiatives for program improvement, analyzes data for quality improvement, designs program evaluations, and manages the evaluation process within the RMS. Accreditation activities, including site visit preparation and participation, as well as Internal Reviews, are also key responsibilities. The role oversees the resident/fellow recruitment and selection process, ensures compliance with program letters of agreement (PLA), and tracks/analyzes data on educational activities. Maintaining relationships with the GME Office, coordinating program events, preparing materials for conferences, staying updated on accreditation trends, and representing the program at meetings are also part of the role. The GME Coordinator also provides guidance and mentorship to other GME Program Coordinators and Directors, and assists with institution-level coordinator development.
