About The Position

Directs and oversees the operation and maintenance of the Walter Scott Energy Center and related facilities, consistent with the organization's policies, objectives and joint owner expectations. Assures the plant is operated in compliance with applicable safety, environmental and power generating requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration or related field. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
  • Eight years of related experience, including three years supervisory/management responsibilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Effective negotiating skills.
  • Excellent project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple issues and projects concurrently.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic and operational plans for control, management, risk management and improvement of the Walter Scott Energy Center capabilities and for ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Participate in the development of the corporate and departmental business plans.
  • Work with other facilities and departments to harvest best practices and improve the overall operation of the business unit.
  • Perform administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department, including employee safety, selection and development of employees, salary administration, budget administration, employee counseling and motivation, organization goals and objectives and planning, organizing, integrating, measuring and reporting the work performed within the department.
  • Manage plant to ensure optimal availability, reliability and budgetary performance.
  • Develop and direct programs designed to improve the plant's performance in the areas of safety, efficiency, reliability and environmental compliance.
  • Control financial and budgetary activities and direct the operations within operating budgets.
  • Responsible for assessment evaluations of regulatory compliance and provide critical review for performance consistency and improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
