About The Position
Don Johnson’s Hayward Motors is seeking an experienced GM Certified Automotive Technician in Hayward, Wisconsin. This full-time position offers a great career opportunity without requiring evenings or weekends, and the dealership is closed on all major holidays. The role involves diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing Chevrolet and other GM vehicles, adhering to GM and dealership standards, and utilizing current GM diagnostic equipment. Technicians will document findings, prepare repair estimates, follow warranty procedures, and communicate effectively with service advisors. Continuous skill development is supported through paid GM training.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical school/ASE certification preferred)
- 2–3 years of experience in automotive service
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency with modern diagnostic tools and repair procedures
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Commitment to teamwork, professionalism, and continuous learning
- Qualified candidates must have a valid driver’s license, a strong commitment to quality, and a team-first approach.
Nice To Haves
- Current GM training and technician certifications
- GM Master Technician or World Class Technician status
- Strong diagnostic, electrical, and drivability skills
- Experience completing GM warranty repairs and documentation
- Ford certification a plus
- Experienced technicians with comparable OEM training
- Technicians willing to complete GM-specific certifications with our support
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair Chevrolet and other GM vehicles
- Complete repairs according to GM and dealership standards
- Verify guest concerns using current GM diagnostic equipment
- Document findings and prepare accurate repair and warranty estimates
- Follow GM warranty documentation and repair procedures
- Communicate clearly with service advisors about vehicle status
- Maintain high standards for safety, quality, efficiency, and guest satisfaction
- Continue developing your skills through paid GM training
