About The Position

The Glovebox Facility Operator is a Payload Operations Integration Center (POIC) flight control position that manages the Microgravity Sciences Glovebox (MSG) Rack or the Life Sciences Glovebox (LSG) Rack Facility. The Glovebox Racks house experiments onboard the International Space Station (ISS) that require multiple levels of containment. These operators provide real-time support for timeline execution, configuration, and troubleshooting of the Facility racks and payloads within. Assignments tend to be of moderate complexity, diversification or expense. Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and process to meet goals outlined. Normally receives instruction on new projects or assignments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in a related field and a minimum of 2 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • US Citizenship with ability to attain/maintain government security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of ISS ops a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Participating in simulation training, training on the payloads that will be operated in the Racks, and developing the appropriate flight products that will be used during real-time support.
  • Maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the Glovebox Rack and for monitoring and managing its operation during real-time operations to support successful experiment operations.
  • Reporting to the Payload Operations Director (POD) during real-time execution and coordinating rack-related activities with payload developers and flight controllers at the POIC.
  • Coordinating with International Partner (IP) payload teams.
