About The Position

Balanced Body is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Manager to oversee procurement activities, develop purchasing strategies, maintain supplier relationships, coordinate internal material needs, and manage the purchasing team. The role focuses on optimizing purchasing processes and negotiating a strong balance of cost and quality. It leads a small purchasing team responsible for purchase orders and following up on open and late supplier deliveries, in a fluid environment where project priorities may shift. This is a foundational, fully on-site role in Sacramento, California, with responsibility for building core purchasing processes and supplier performance metrics. The position reports to the Director of Operations and leads five buyer-planners as well as material handlers across receiving, stockroom, and shipping. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The role oversees site tactical procurement, receiving, stockroom, and shipping activities; drives supply chain strategy and lean practices; supports new product introduction; manages supplier delivery and quality issues; and develops replenishment methods that improve inventory turns while supporting customer delivery and quality goals. Balanced Body designs and manufactures Pilates equipment and provides instructor training and continuing education. The company operates in more than 100 countries and states a commitment to environmentally friendly business practices.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field.
At least 10 years of supply chain experience.
At least 5 years of managerial experience in a manufacturing environment.
Develop visual standard work for major processes and ensure compliance.
Work on-site in Sacramento, California, five days per week; no hybrid or remote arrangement.
Strong Microsoft Office skills.
ERP/MRP skills.
Experience with Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Where-Used reports.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
Positive and professional demeanor, attention to detail, and self-starter qualities.

Nice To Haves

One or more secondary certifications, such as APICS, CSCP, or CPSM.
Knowledge of international markets and related logistics.
Experience with MS Dynamics Business Central.

Responsibilities

Execute supply chain strategies supporting material cost reduction, supplier on-time delivery, inventory reduction, supplier quality, and shorter supplier lead times.
Implement lean concepts, including Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen leadership, and 5S.
Develop, implement, and manage alternative material replenishment methods, such as consignment, kanban, and vendor-managed inventory.
Oversee site tactical procurement, receiving, stockroom, and shipping departments, including assigned personnel and the integrity of relevant system data.
Address issues affecting supplier on-time delivery and product quality.
Lead and develop buyer-planners and material handlers.
Maintain replenishment systems that maximize inventory turns while supporting customer on-time delivery, quality, and lead-time reduction goals.
Coordinate meetings and publish minutes to keep Value Stream and Site management informed about issues that may delay shipments.
Support procurement requirements for new product introductions.
Develop visual standard work for major processes and ensure compliance.
Develop, implement, and support processes that reduce transactions required to maintain and move materials and information.
Monitor supplier scrap and take responsibility for valid in-house rejects of purchased parts.
Coordinate technical communications with suppliers and obtain corrective actions in a timely manner.
Build a skilled, motivated, customer-focused team.
Perform other tasks assigned by a supervisor or management.
