About The Position

As the Global Studies Research Intern, you will contribute to an important initiative examining the history, impact, and evolution of global studies at Duke. Working alongside distinguished faculty leaders, you will help document the contributions of the humanities, arts, and interpretive social sciences while supporting strategic conversations about Duke's global engagement and academic impact. This is an opportunity for a curious, analytical, and detail-oriented researcher who enjoys transforming complex information into meaningful insights that can inform institutional decision-making. Requirements

Strong research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
Experience gathering, organizing, and synthesizing qualitative and quantitative information.
Ability to communicate findings clearly through written reports, presentations, and visualizations.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with faculty and administrative partners.
Proficiency with data analysis, research tools, and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

Conduct qualitative and quantitative research related to the history and development of global studies at Duke University.
Investigate and document the impact of faculty scholarship across major global studies disciplines.
Analyze graduate student training outcomes and assess research, teaching, and broader professional contributions.
Examine undergraduate participation and identify examples of educational and career impact.
Collect, organize, and interpret data from a variety of academic and institutional sources.
Develop reports, narratives, visualizations, summaries, and other communication materials that effectively convey research findings.
Present research outcomes and recommendations to the Global Priorities Committee (GPC) and Trinity Global Committee (TGC).
Collaborate closely with faculty supervisors to ensure research activities support committee priorities and strategic objectives.
Maintain accurate records and project documentation throughout the engagement.
