The individual will not only support the business but also help define how it operates.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD), LL.M., or equivalent legal qualification.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience across compliance (preferably in regulated or international/EMEA environments).
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in commercial legal roles supporting technology, IT services, or ITAD.
  • Knowledge of Leasing, financing, or asset-based business models.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. and Canada sanctions and export control regimes.
  • Strong knowledge of Leasing and financing regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of Environmental and ITAD-related regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of Data protection and privacy frameworks (including GDPR and U.S. / Canada laws).
  • Experience working within a matrix organization with EU/EEA governance structures.
  • Strong compliance mindset with the ability to operationalize frameworks in a business environment.
  • Commercially pragmatic and problem-solving legal advisor with business partnering capability.
  • Ability to balance regulatory requirements with growth objectives.
  • Effective stakeholder management across regions and functions.
  • High level of autonomy combined with strong alignment to Group governance.
  • Collaborative mindset with the confidence to challenge constructively when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead compliance risk assessments across North America and implement mitigation actions with the Group compliance function.
  • Monitor regulatory developments in the U.S. and Canada and assess business impact.
  • Implement and operationalize Group compliance policies, standards, and controls across North America.
  • Adapt and localize global compliance frameworks (including whistleblowing) to meet regional legal and regulatory requirements while maintaining global consistency.
  • Manage and support compliance investigations, incidents, and whistleblowing cases in coordination with Group functions.
  • Support third-party due diligence processes, including KYC/CDD and supplier compliance oversight.
  • Act as the primary compliance contact for North America business units and engage with relevant authorities as needed.
  • Oversee compliance with leasing, financing structures, and licensing requirements in coordination with business and finance teams.
  • Ensure compliance with sanctions and export control regulations (e.g., OFAC, BIS).
  • Ensure adherence to environmental regulations, including ITAD, e-waste handling, and chain-of-custody standards.
  • Support implementation of data protection and privacy requirements (GDPR, U.S., and Canada frameworks such as CCPA).
  • Ensure compliance with emerging regulatory requirements (e.g., AI).
  • Act as lead legal partner supporting ITAD and Lifecycle Services business lines and customer deals across North America.
  • Provide legal support to sales efforts, enabling commercial deal execution.
  • Support sourcing activities for ITAD subcontractors, including vendor negotiations, supplier agreements, and partner onboarding.
  • Ensure contracts incorporate applicable compliance requirements (e.g., export controls, environmental, and privacy regulations).
  • Deliver pragmatic, business-oriented legal advice aligned with commercial and operational objectives.
  • Ensure alignment with Group-approved templates and contractual standards.
  • Advise on legal risks related to asset ownership, chain-of-custody, data sanitization, and environmental liabilities.
  • Support corporate governance activities, dispute resolution, claims, and escalation management.
  • Ensure contractual structures align with compliance, financing, and operational requirements.
