Job Description: This job is responsible for conducting routine to complex investigations at the bank to generate information relative to current or prospective bank customers, employees, and/or applicants. Key responsibilities include leading investigations for task forces or special projects that represent significant loss exposure and identifying significant issues and control weaknesses to make recommendations to line management that minimize exposure or loss.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a metric‑driven, production‑based environment with effective time management and multi‑tasking skills.
  • Ability to ensure service level agreements are met or exceeded while delivering high quality, error-free work.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state court system hierarchies
  • Relevant or prior investigative experience conducting employment eligibility screenings, due diligence checks, or similar investigations.
  • Relevant experience in researching, analyzing, and interpreting data from a variety of sources in order to identify relevant information, draw conclusions, and support decision-making.
  • Ability to read and interpret legal and technical information.
  • Proven track record in being able to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, highly matrix and complex environment.
  • Detail-oriented thinker able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong computer and analytical skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous investigative experience in audit, banking, public records research, or risk management.
  • Prior experience in a paralegal/legal support or similar role with current knowledge of interpreting criminal law and court case results.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field.

Responsibilities

  • Leads investigations by performing checks to identify significant issues and control weaknesses to minimize Line of Business risk exposure
  • Prepares, reports, and summarizes investigation findings to internal business partners to assist in making hiring and credit decisions
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and makes recommendations to management on investigations that present significant risk exposure to the bank
  • Leverages proprietary databases such as public records and third-party sources to conduct credit, criminal, education, and employment checks to support employment eligibility decisions
  • Identifies internal control weaknesses or process vulnerabilities in Screening Services and recommends solutions to drive operational excellence
  • Interprets data to draw conclusions and support decision-making during investigations
