About The Position

The Global Medical Affairs Director – Neuropsychiatry, Seltorexant is a critical role in maximizing the success of this first-in-class compound in our Neuropsychiatry mood portfolio through impactful global Medical Affairs MAF strategic asset leadership in the launch preparation period and beyond. The Global Medical Affairs Director is accountable for the development of Global Medical Affairs plans that reflect prioritized portfolio and regional needs and are included in the overall asset development plans. The Global Medical Affairs Director is accountable for the global publication plans, global opinion leader relations, global medical education and global advisory boards in the prelaunch phase and through launch of major life cycle management initiatives. The Global Medical Affairs Director facilitates and ensures a consistent approach to Medical Affairs programs/activities globally and ensures that all global activities address patient needs in line with the J&J Compliance principles, and are grounded in ethical standards. The Global Medical Affairs Director partners closely with regional medical TA/product leaders to develop integrated Global Medical Affairs perspectives, strategies, and plans for Seltorexant and related projects. The role also works with relevant cross-functional global leaders to provide input into strategies aligned with MAF priorities. The Global Medical Affairs Director will be a member of the Compound Development Teams (CDTs), Safety Management Teams, Global Commercial Teams, as well as the Labeling Working Group, and will serve as an ad hoc member of the Clinical Team and Global Market Access Team.

Requirements

  • Advanced Scientific/Medical Degree (e.g. MD, PhD, PharmD, MPH or other Master’s Level Degree)
  • 5+ years of experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, or a related role within pharmaceutical or biotechnology organizations is required.
  • Experience in psychiatry or neuroscience medical affairs is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading a clinical/scientific cross functional team is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment and understand global complexity.
  • Global mindset and ability to partner cross culturally/regionally.
  • Strong experience developing and managing strategic relationships with medical experts/opinion leaders.
  • Proven ability to act as a medical spokesperson for external audiences
  • Impactful communication and engagement skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Global Medical Affairs strategy and plan for seltorexant based on prioritized portfolio and regional needs.
  • Ensure integration with the overall global compound strategy, resulting in one global R&D and Medical Affairs compound development plan, inclusive of developing a Target Product Profile representing Medical Affairs global and regional value needs.
  • Provide a single Medical Affairs voice into the creation of compound development and LCM strategies, plans and trial design from phase IIa through phase IV.
  • Lead the Integrated Evidence Generation strategy development and ensure project implementation based on identified key evidence gaps.
  • Lead the ReCAP process (review of all Medical Affairs sponsored clinical trials and Investigator Initiated Sponsored studies) for applicable products.
  • Lead the development and execution of global publication plans, including review and approval of publications.
  • Ensure scientific and medical accuracy of the publications, maximize the relevance for healthcare professionals (HCP), explore innovative dissemination approaches.
  • Ensure relevant internal stakeholders are informed in a timely manner and educated on the relevant evidence generated.
  • Lead the development and the execution of the global medical education strategy to address unmet HCP educational needs.
  • Ensure education content is scientifically accurate, consistent globally, measurable, and executed compliantly across channels.
  • Lead the design and governance of the global external scientific engagement strategy, ensuring alignment with asset/TA priorities, launch readiness needs, and evolving evidence.
  • Drive strategic thought leader identification and engagement planning across regions, translating insights into actionable medical priorities and scientific narrative refinement.
  • Provide strategic MAF input to Global Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory strategic plans and other relevant plans, aligned with MAF priorities.
