About The Position

This is an internship/co-op role for the Fall/Term 1 work term, located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The role involves supporting the successful execution of reporting, operational requests, and transactional requests for the business unit and/or client. The intern will conduct less complex analytics and research, assist with building and reviewing internal models, tools, processes, policies, and presentations, and contribute to various initiatives. For Technology Solutions Programs, the intern will assist teams with designing and building software and applications according to business requirements and architectural guidelines. The role requires prioritizing and managing workload to meet service and productivity SLAs, exercising discretion in managing confidential information, and updating procedural documents. The intern will also be expected to follow internal and industry regulations, be aware of industry developments, and acquire expertise in the discipline. Protecting the organization's interests by identifying and managing risks, and maintaining a culture of risk management and control are also key aspects of the role. The intern will participate fully as a team member, support a positive work environment, and continuously enhance knowledge and expertise. They will also participate in personal performance management and development activities, keep others informed of project status, and contribute to a fair and positive environment. The role involves performing multiple and/or diverse complex tasks, requiring expert knowledge across a broad range of products, processes, or systems, with potential for moderate to high risk. The intern will gather and analyze data to solve complex problems, use sound judgment, and understand process/policy risk. Interactions are typically with internal customers/partners and potentially external customers. The focus of the work is weekly, monthly, and/or longer-term, with ad-hoc requests and initiatives. The role requires subject matter expertise in a range of technical processes and procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience, as well as advanced knowledge of business unit/operational functions and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a relevant post-secondary program
  • 1+ years related experience

Responsibilities

  • Support successful execution of relevant reporting, operational requests, and relevant transactional requests for the business unit and/or client
  • Conduct less complex analytics and research, and obtain/share internal and external relevant business/market data
  • Assist with building and reviewing internal models, tools, processes, policies, presentations, and other related materials; challenge team and improve the underlying processes of functional area
  • Assist with various initiatives, as assigned
  • For Technology Solutions Programs: Assist teams with designing and building software, applications, etc. according to business requirements, UX designs, and architectural guidelines, and ensure that high-quality products
  • Prioritize and manage own workload to meet SLA requirements for service and productivity
  • Consistently exercise discretion in managing information and all matters of confidentiality; escalates issues where appropriate
  • Access systems, understand and apply system capabilities, ensure information is completed timely and accurately
  • Update and contribute to the preparation of procedural documents in support of day-to-day operations
  • Escalate non-standard or high risk activities as deemed appropriate
  • Follow internal and industry regulations and operating practices in completing and recording transactions
  • Be knowledgeable and/or aware of industry developments
  • Acquire and apply expertise in the discipline, provide guidance, assistance and direction to others
  • Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk activities as necessary
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite
