About The Position

The Global Manufacturing & Supply Chain Data Expert is responsible for establishing and sustaining the operational data foundation required to run an integrated global manufacturing and supply chain network. This role serves as the subject matter expert for manufacturing and supply chain master data within ERP systems and related planning platforms in the CMP business unit. The position is accountable for improving the quality, accuracy, governance, and usability of operational data across global manufacturing sites and supply chain functions. The role combines hands-on data expertise with coaching, process design, governance, and continuous improvement responsibilities. The successful candidate must be capable of identifying and correcting complex master data issues, developing sustainable business processes, and teaching operational teams how to manage data correctly at the source. The role also serves a broader mission of rebuilding organizational capability in operational master data management, transactional discipline, and planning system alignment. As manufacturing and supply chain processes become increasingly dependent on integrated ERP and advanced planning systems, success requires not only accurate master data, but also well-defined ownership, governance, business processes, and user capability. This role is responsible for helping establish and sustain those foundational capabilities across the global organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, Operations Research, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent
  • 5-10+ of deep hands-on SAP MM and PP expertise, preferably as an SAP consultant or in-house SME in both discrete and process manufacturing environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of BOMs, Capacities, Material Master, Planning Parameters, Production Versions, Recipes and Recipe Groups, Work Centers and the best practices around them.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing operations, processes and data structures
  • Strong process development, documentation, training, and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to work across time zones and travel internationally.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders and functions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the organization's hands-on subject matter expert for manufacturing and supply chain master data, including BOMs, Capacities, Material Master, Planning Parameters, Production Versions, Recipes and Recipe Groups and Work Centers.
  • Independently analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex manufacturing and planning master data issues.
  • Ensure operational data accurately reflects manufacturing reality, approved business processes, and planning requirements.
  • Establish and drive programs to continuously improve manufacturing and supply chain data quality across all sites, with particular focus on operational readiness and data integrity within North American manufacturing operations.
  • Conduct data audits, monitor performance metrics, implement preventive controls, and drive corrective actions in accordance with global standards and governance processes.
  • Support new product introductions, product and material transitions, manufacturing transfers and site setups, and other business initiatives by ensuring master data readiness and first-time-right configuration of planning and execution parameters.
  • Promote best practices for the creation, maintenance, validation, and governance of manufacturing and supply chain master data.
  • Monitor and improve the integrity of key manufacturing and supply chain transactions to ensure ERP data accurately reflects physical and operational reality.
  • Ensure operational master data is accurately represented and maintained across ERP and supply chain planning systems.
  • Partner closely with ERP Solution SMEs, Supply Chain Planning Solution SMEs, Enterprise Data Management, and IT organizations to align business requirements with system capabilities.
  • Support deployment, enhancement, and continuous improvement initiatives involving ERP and planning solutions.
  • Identify and resolve data, process, and system integration gaps that negatively impact planning, scheduling, inventory management, manufacturing execution, or customer service.
  • Act as the business expert for understanding how master data structures influence planning outcomes, manufacturing execution, inventory performance, and supply chain effectiveness.
  • Recommend and implement best practices that improve the quality and usability of operational data across enterprise systems.
  • Develop and maintain global standards, governance frameworks, and operating procedures supporting manufacturing and supply chain data management.
  • Create and maintain SOPs, work instructions, training materials, approval workflows, ownership models, and other documentation necessary to support sustainable business processes.
  • Drive transactional excellence by promoting system-first execution and reinforcing system-of-record principles.
  • Monitor compliance with established business processes and identify opportunities to improve transactional accuracy, consistency, and effectiveness.
  • Establish preventive controls and governance mechanisms that reduce recurring data quality issues and improve first-time-right execution.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on strengthening operational data management capabilities across the enterprise.
  • Develop organizational capability in manufacturing and supply chain data management through training, coaching, mentoring, and knowledge transfer.
  • Create practical training programs, user guides, and educational materials that improve understanding of operational master data and business processes.
  • Train manufacturing, engineering, quality, and supply chain personnel on proper master data maintenance practices and transactional discipline.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and support during major data remediation efforts and business transformation initiatives.
  • Build sustainable competency within the organization by transferring knowledge and reducing dependency on individual subject matter experts.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders on manufacturing and supply chain data management best practices.
