About The Position

Eurasia Group is looking for an Associate to join the Office of the President in the firm’s New York office. This is a writing- and research-intensive role, focused on the craft of producing sharp, well-argued analysis across formats. In this role, you will work alongside the president, chief of staff, and editorial team on a wide range of written and analytical work. You will also collaborate with Eurasia Group’s Global Macro practice on research at the intersection of geopolitics and markets, contribute to the firm’s flagship analytical products including the annual Top Risks report, serve as a link between the Office of the President and the firm’s research platform, and support the work of GZERO Media, Eurasia Group’s digital media company.

Requirements

  • An exceptional ability to tell a story and advance an argument in journalistic rather than academic style, earning readers rather than assuming them.
  • Mastery of current affairs, political science, and international relations.
  • Intellectual range that goes well beyond geopolitics: political economy, economics, history, the geopolitics of AI, the technology-power nexus, and the kind of cross-domain curiosity—literature, philosophy, art, science, history of ideas—that produces great writing rather than just competent analysis.
  • Deep fluency in the new media ecosystem—Substack, podcasts, X, long-form blogs, newsletters—and genuine instincts about how ideas move from niche to mainstream.
  • Curiosity about how AI systems work, what their capabilities and limitations are, and how they are reshaping power—and the initiative to develop and maintain working fluency with frontier tools as the field evolves.
  • A quantitative sensibility: comfort with data, economic analysis, and empirical grounding that sharpens rather than decorates an argument.
  • Willingness to recognize and set aside personal bias for the sake of analytical integrity.
  • The ability to independently manage a high volume of competing priorities and deliver polished work under tight deadlines.
  • Comfort working across formats—written, audio, and video—and across audiences, from policy practitioners and institutional clients to general readers.
  • Resume
  • Cover letter—we are especially interested in why the writing and research craft of this role draws you to it, and what you most want to write about in the coming year(s)
  • A journalistic writing sample—something that makes an argument and is written to be read by a general audience please upload a link to this sample in the website link field

Responsibilities

  • Draft and edit written work across a wide range of formats, from regular columns and client updates to long-form essays, short-form content, and press responses.
  • Contribute to research briefs, talking points, and written materials that inform speeches, panels, debates, and media engagements.
  • Adapt written analysis for distribution across social platforms, with a sharp instinct for what resonates across different audiences.
  • Maintain regular dialogue with the firm’s analysts, connecting the Office of the President’s priorities with the broader research platform.
  • Handle a broad range of writing and research tasks with the same care as the flagship work—comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward action are essential.
