About The Position

When you join CIBC Capital Markets’ Global Investment Banking team, you will be making a real difference to our clients by helping to provide customized financing and advisory solutions. With offices located in Canada, the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia, our Global Investment Banking group provides equity and debt underwriting as well as corporate finance advisory services to corporations and institutions through a number of industry and product groups. This is a great opportunity to be a part of a group of professionals ranging from Analysts to Managing Directors who are dedicated to advising clients on infrastructure and project finance and mergers and acquisitions. The Calgary-based Energy, Infrastructure and Transition (“EIT”), Investment Banking office focuses on a broad range of energy and infrastructure clients that operate in the following sectors: oil and gas, pipelines, midstream energy infrastructure, renewable and thermal power, utilities, and energy transition / climate-tech. We support these clients with strategic advice, equity and debt fundraising, and corporate finance advisory services such as mergers and acquisitions. You will become part of a team focused on delivering innovative solutions to our corporate, government, and institutional clients. Requirements

  • You are enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Commerce, Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics/STEM or related and you are on track to complete your undergrad program no sooner than April 2027.
  • Demonstrated interest in Capital Markets.
  • Highly motivated, accomplished and a success-oriented individual who has a keen interest in pursuing a career in the financial services industry demonstrated through school courses, clubs and/or related work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and develop insights on companies, industries and capital market activities across the energy complex
  • Support active coverage and deal teams in the origination and execution of advisory projects across mergers & acquisitions, divestitures, equity and debt financings, strategic advisory/alternatives projects and full capital structure solution projects.
  • Gain exposure and develop relationships with individuals across CIBC’s global capital markets franchise, leveraging expertise across different geographies, industries and capital market products that drives our team-based approach to executing coverage and financing mandates.
