Global Head of Data & AI Strategy and Product Management, SVP

State StreetBoston, MA
$225,000 - $337,500

About The Position

Act as the enterprise product and portfolio leader for Data & AI, defining strategy, owning the roadmap, and ensuring disciplined execution and value realization—while delivering clear, compelling communication to internal and external stakeholders. The Head of Data & AI Strategy, Portfolio & Value serves as the central product and portfolio management authority for all Data & AI initiatives across State Street. This role operates at the intersection of strategy, product management, and executive communication, ensuring that Data & AI investments are strategically aligned to business priorities, structured as coherent, product-oriented roadmaps, transparently tracked and measured for value, and effectively communicated to employees, clients, and investors. The role requires a leader who combines deep understanding of data and AI platforms with modern product management discipline and the ability to deliver high-quality executive narratives and artifacts. This leader will run a small, high-impact team responsible for managing the end-to-end Data & AI portfolio, driving roadmap clarity, and producing high-quality materials for executive, board, client, and investor consumption. Success is measured by clarity of strategy, portfolio discipline, roadmap execution, and quality of internal and external communication.

Requirements

  • Senior leadership experience in product management, strategy, or portfolio leadership, preferably in leading technology firms or financial services/peer institutions.
  • Strong background in data platforms and data strategy.
  • Strong background in AI/ML, Generative AI, and emerging AI capabilities.
  • Proven track record as a product-oriented leader, not just a strategist.
  • Proven track record as a portfolio operator managing complex, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Exceptional ability to create executive-level and external-facing content.
  • Strong understanding of product roadmaps, user journeys, and platform adoption dynamics.
  • Product-first thinker with strong strategic orientation.
  • Highly structured, detail-oriented, and execution-focused.
  • Exceptional communicator with ability to influence at the executive level.
  • Comfortable operating across business, technology, and client contexts.
  • Brings a high bar for quality, clarity, and storytelling.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve the enterprise Data & AI strategy aligned to business priorities across State Street, platform-led transformation objectives, and emerging industry and technology trends.
  • Translate strategy into clear product-aligned roadmaps across Data platforms, AI platforms (ML, GenAI, Agentic AI), and Enterprise AI use cases.
  • Act as the enterprise product manager for the Data & AI portfolio, owning the end-to-end lifecycle including intake, shaping, prioritization, sequencing, and roadmap definition/maintenance.
  • Structure initiatives as products and capabilities, not one-off projects, ensuring alignment across Platform teams (Data & AI Platforms) and Enablement teams.
  • Maintain a single, integrated enterprise roadmap for Data & AI and drive deep tracking of delivery against roadmap commitments, including milestones, dependencies, and outcomes.
  • Establish strong portfolio discipline through regular reviews, progress reporting, and issue escalation/resolution.
  • Define and implement clear value realization frameworks, including revenue growth, cost efficiency, productivity gains, and client impact/experience, tracking outcomes at both initiative and portfolio levels.
  • Own the creation of high-quality strategic and product narratives for executive leadership, Board, investor communications, and client engagement.
  • Develop polished artifacts including strategy decks, roadmaps, capability models, and progress/value realization reports.
  • Partner with Lines of Business to identify high-value opportunities, shape them into well-defined product use cases, and ensure strong linkage between business outcomes, platform capabilities, and roadmap priorities.
  • Establish a lightweight but rigorous portfolio management operating model to drive consistency in initiative definition, prioritization criteria, tracking, and reporting.
  • Build and lead a small, high-performing team covering product and portfolio management, strategy and roadmap planning, and executive communication/content development.
  • Foster a culture of precision, clarity, strong execution discipline, and high-quality, polished output.
