About The Position

OpenX is hiring a Global Head of Customer Success Engineering (CSE) to join its Commercial Operations leadership team. The role leads the Solutions Architects, Support Engineering, and Deal Operations organizations and serves as the technical backbone for customer-facing partners, including publishers, DSPs, and strategic partners. The leader will build high-performing teams that drive revenue, maximize integration health, and provide senior technical expertise to clients and partners. This is a player-coach position requiring deep technical knowledge of the programmatic SSP landscape, especially publisher and DSP OpenRTB integrations across programmatic channels. The role works closely with Sales, Account Management, Product, Engineering, Legal, and external partners to identify and solve technical challenges in ways that support partner revenue and business outcomes. The position reports directly to the VP, Commercial Operations.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in programmatic advertising in a technical role at an SSP, DSP, ad server, or publisher.
  • Deep knowledge of OpenRTB, auction mechanics, and supply paths, including CTV and pod bidding, with the ability to diagnose issues using bid-level data.
  • Strong ownership and commercial mindset, including understanding how technical decisions affect business outcomes and KPIs.
  • Track record of working effectively across multiple teams and regions.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and disagreement, including respectfully expressing disagreement with senior leaders across Commercial, Product, and Engineering.
  • Demonstrated disciplined prioritization, triaging by revenue, risk, and effort and clearly communicating what is and is not being worked on.
  • Experience leading global teams across multiple business lines, remits, and focus areas, including hiring, coaching, and developing managers.
  • Ability to connect work across teams, bring stakeholders together early, and ensure responsibilities do not fall between teams.
  • Product mindset, including turning recurring issues into prioritized requests and constructively challenging Product and Engineering.
  • Practical fluency with AI and automation tools and sound judgment about where they are useful.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Solutions Architects, Support Engineering, and Deal Operations organizations across global regions; build leadership capacity and coach and develop leaders.
  • Hold regular one-on-ones, establish career paths for direct reports, and manage team priorities and escalations.
  • Serve as the technical escalation point for the organizations and cross-functional teams supported; prioritize work and ensure recurring issues are resolved at their root.
  • Set clear ownership for technical initiatives and hold stakeholders accountable for goals, timelines, and success criteria.
  • Build proactive monitoring and alerting for integration health, traffic, and revenue.
  • Own incident response for revenue-impacting issues, coordinating teams, communicating with partners, and leading post-mortems that produce lasting fixes.
  • Advance automation and AI for monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational efficiency; assess build-versus-buy decisions against measurable improvements.
  • Lead or support technical conversations with publishers, DSPs, technology partners, and strategic partners on integrations, auction mechanics, and revenue performance.
  • Represent the senior technical voice in partner and executive meetings.
  • Lead the technical aspects of revenue-critical programs, including partner onboarding, CTV and podding, discrepancy investigations, and analytical system tests; define success measures such as net revenue and cloud cost.
  • Support commercial negotiations with accurate data and technical context.
  • Represent OpenX at relevant industry events and panels.
  • Serve as the primary technical link between internal business teams or external clients and Product and Engineering, providing prioritized requests with business context, urgency, and associated revenue or risk.
  • Own the escalation path into Engineering for complex integration, data, and auction issues.
  • Identify core exchange gaps, including data ingestion, signal handling, discrepancy and reporting tools, and deal enablement, and recommend resolution paths.
  • Build repeatable Product and Engineering intake and feedback processes, such as ticket tiering and regular reviews.
  • Translate engineering constraints for clients and field teams, and communicate customer impact to engineers and executives.
