About The Position

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. As the EMD Application Engineering Director, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by leading the Global Electrical Markets Division Application Engineering organization, defining and executing the global application engineering strategy aligned with business and technology roadmaps, and partnering with R&D, product management, marketing, sales, and operations to identify customer needs and convert them into scalable technical solutions. You will also monitor industry trends, competitive technologies, and emerging laboratory application needs to inform innovation priorities, oversee application development, product validation support, demo protocols, and technical performance optimization, and establish global processes, tools, and best practices for application engineering across regions and teams. Additionally, you will develop key customer relationships, support new product introduction by ensuring application readiness, technical documentation, and customer use-case validation, and build and lead a high-performing global team, including hiring, coaching, succession planning, and capability development.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher completed and verified prior to start from an accredited institution.
Ten (10) years of experience in application engineering, laboratory technology, technical service, product development, or related leadership roles.
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Nice To Haves

Master`s degree and /or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Engineering, or Material Science, from an accredited institution.
Skills include ability to lead a global Application Engineering organization, influencing cross functional partners, communication with and across all levels, and proactive and self-driven leadership.
Experience leading global or multi-regional technical teams.
Demonstrated success leading cross-functional programs and influencing senior stakeholders.
Able to identify and gather customer insights and technology/product opportunities.
Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

Lead the Global Electrical Markets Division Application Engineering organization.
