The purpose of the role is to manage operations within a business area and maintain processes, risk management initiatives, and compliance with relevant regulators. This includes identifying trends and opportunities for improvement, managing operations to promote efficient processes, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, managing operational professionals, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The role also focuses on creating a safe environment for colleagues to speak up, managing attrition, and contributing to function-wide strategic initiatives. The Director will manage a business function, influence policy and procedures, and lead complex strategic projects. They will manage the direction of a large team or sub-function, embedding a performance culture, or lead organization-wide projects as a deep technical expert. They will provide expert advice to senior management, manage resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation, foster compliance, and focus on the external environment. The role requires extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division/Group, broad knowledge of industry theories and practices, and the ability to use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems. The Director will exercise management authority to make significant decisions, negotiate with and influence senior stakeholders, and act as a principal contact point for key clients and counterparts. They will also serve as a spokesperson for the function and business division, demonstrating leadership behaviors and aligning with Barclays Values and Mindset.
