The ideal candidate will possess strong financial management, reporting, and compliance skills, along with excellent communication and project management abilities. Experience working with federal, state, and local funding sources is strongly preferred. Through a network of 10 locations and in-home services, we provide Behavioral Health, Adult Medical Day Care, Early Childhood Education, Therapy, Respite, and Workforce Development services to individuals and families throughout the region. In addition to serving the broader community, our programs emphasize support for wounded warriors, veterans, active-duty military personnel, and their families. Position Summary The GL – Senior Accountant reports directly to the Controller and is responsible for supporting the organization’s financial operations through accurate reporting, reconciliations, compliance monitoring, and general ledger management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Fiscal Management, or related field required; CPA preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience in a similar role
  • Experience with Sage Intacct required
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting practices preferred
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives
  • Strong computer literacy skills, including Microsoft Office applications and financial systems
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, dependability, and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Background check may be required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with federal, state, and local funding sources is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, deferrals, and other general ledger adjustments
  • Perform reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, with a strong emphasis on cash reconciliations, and resolve discrepancies timely
  • Assist the Assistant Controller and Controller with the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and explanations related to financial activity
  • Ensure adherence to organizational policies, internal controls, and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Work collaboratively with departments to obtain financial data and provide support related to budgeting and forecasting
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, efficiency, and reporting accuracy
