About The Position

The Giving Strategies Manager cultivates new business opportunities, advances key relationships, and develops strategies to expand OCF’s network of givers, resulting in increased philanthropic support for OCF programs and initiatives. This role identifies and develops strategies for educating, inspiring, supporting, and activating OCF donors, prospects, and those who give outside of OCF in strategic and impactful philanthropy. The position helps grow donors’ philanthropic engagement and investment with OCF while supporting the success of OCF programs and initiatives. In partnership with the broader team, this position also delivers specialized philanthropic services for individuals, families, corporations, and private foundations to enhance or deepen their impact, including supporting multi-generational giving.

Requirements

  • Six or more years of progressively responsible project management and/or strategic planning, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  • Requires valid driver’s license and personal vehicle for regular use to effectively perform job duties.
  • Exceptional relationship and rapport-building skills, ability to navigate challenging situations and complex family dynamics.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral; experience editing and proof reading.
  • Attention to maintaining regular connections with clients, donors, prospects, and stakeholders to ensure continued engagement.
  • Skilled at facilitating interactive workshops and managing complex group dynamics.
  • Knowledge of meeting and event coordination; ability to effectively document meeting discussions and track follow-up steps.
  • Familiarity with budgeting, basic accounting, and charitable giving concepts.
  • Theoretical and practical project management knowledge and knowledge of techniques and tools used in project management.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with others to achieve effective outcomes.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite, and experience working with complex integrated databases.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with ability to adjust plans as needed and work on several projects at a time.
  • Good analytical skills: able to think critically, apply sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate experience in equity, bridging and belonging.
  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and experience working independently, proactively identifying or initiating ways to enhance a process, procedure or outcome that benefits OCF.

  • Cultural agility skills necessary to collaborate effectively with diverse people, teams, and communities.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop relationships with individuals, businesses, philanthropic partners and key audiences to expand relationships and accelerate charitable giving.
  • Partner with the Donor Relations team to develop engagement plans for donor segments to highlight OCF expertise and services that leverage resources for impact in issue areas.
  • Increase awareness of OCF service offerings through networking and affiliations in key sectors and with prospective donors and community partners to highlight how OCF can help leverage resources and deepen philanthropic impact.
  • Elevate OCFs services and resources by facilitating peer networking among family foundation staff and trustees via the Family Foundation Exchange and engage with funder networks such as the National Center for Family Philanthropy.
  • Conduct statewide outreach to private foundations to build relationships and elevate OCF services and resources that can help foundations deepen their philanthropic impact.
  • Partner with the Development team on outreach to professional advisors to educate and promote OCF services.
  • Design and implement an engagement plan for OCF stakeholders to advance the foundation’s impact through prospect identification and relationship building, including corporate partners and private foundations.
  • Partner with the President’s Office to enhance current/past board member stewardship.
  • Manage and facilitate a collaborative, cross-organization stewardship cohort to align donor and fund-holder experiences across OCF and streamline donor stewardship across fund types.
  • Identify opportunities to deepen relationships with contributors to OCF Collective Giving funds.
  • Identify opportunities to celebrate donor giving and impact and work with the Donor Engagement Manager on implementation.
  • Manage strategic giving initiatives including family and corporate client-related contracts, new business development and opportunities to engage audiences in OCF priorities.
  • Manage project timelines, milestones, and tasks; define team roles and expectations; communicate updates to stakeholders; and deliver progress reports, proposals, and presentations.
  • Draft and submit budget proposals, submit expenses and reports and track staff time on projects.
  • Recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary and proactively manage changes in projects.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • In partnership with the Administrative Manager, facilitate the Giving Strategies visioning and goal-setting process.
  • Partner with the Administrative Manager and Business Analyst to develop processes, metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and advance program goals (for example: prospect and referral tracking) and use data to complete analyses to support program goals and future planning.
  • In partnership with Marketing and Communications, conceptualize and maintain promotional materials to support the promotion of OCF’s strategic giving services.
  • Catalogue documents and templates created for clients and Giving Strategies initiatives that can be repurposed for future use.
  • Support and engage in meetings with donors and advisors, including building agendas, creating meeting materials, and participate in meeting facilitation to support families in decision-making.
  • Document discussions and track follow-up steps.
