Incumbent serves as GIS Technician/Specialist for the County Surveyor, responsible for maintaining and updating the department’s geographic information system (GIS). This position involves maintaining the department GIS system, including constructing and maintaining features and attributes associated with various data layers. It also includes performing system maintenance and backup procedures, logging activity, and maintaining organized documentation files. The role requires performing queries and analysis of the tax database, creating landowner lists, and reviewing land splits. Additionally, the incumbent will oversee the storage, scanning, and retrieval of county regulated drain drawings and other department documents, create custom maps, and communicate with other County GIS users. The position also involves downloading and maintaining digital images and GPS points, serving as the Surveyor department webmaster, performing duties of the Drainage Board Secretary in their absence, preparing monthly presentations for drainage board meetings, and reviewing minor subdivision submissions. Routine maintenance of the plotter is also a responsibility.
