The Intermediate GIS Analyst focuses on GIS analysis, manages incoming and outgoing data, creates high quality map products and identifies mapping requirements for internal and external parties.

Requirements

  • Post secondary degree in GIS, Cartography, Geography, or related field of study, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 to 7 years professional experience in GIS.
  • Educational or Professional experience with ESRI ArcGIS and its extensions.
  • Basic understanding of SQL Server/Enterprise Database knowledge.
  • Digitizing, editing, and performing queries in ArcGIS Desktop/Pro, and relational databases.
  • Online tool development in the Esri suite of products (Portal and ArcGIS Online), including Experience Builder, Field Maps and Survey123.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
  • Python, SQL and Esri Arcade language.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A keen attention to detail.
  • An understanding of the importance of projections, coordinate systems and datums.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional experience with Experience Builder, Story Maps, Hub Sites, Field Maps, Survey 123 and other advanced Esri software is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop high quality custom maps and reports.
  • Convert data and conduct GIS analysis.
  • Create, edit and manage data for a variety of projects.
  • Perform data analysis and spatial queries.
  • Design and conduct Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures on mapping and data products.
  • Conduct evaluations of cartographic and GIS principles.
  • Address and resolve issues relating to project and/or data.
  • Liaise with Canacre Field Team on related projects.
  • Set up internal GIS system including field data collection capabilities and in-house data management systems.
  • Provide drawings, data and geographic information for various environmental projects and reports.
  • Create, analyse and maintain vector, raster and tabular data and databases.
  • Liaise with Canacre departments to deliver quality service.
  • Perform other duties as required.
