The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services provides services that promote and improve agriculture, agribusiness, and forests; protect consumers and businesses; and conserve farmland and natural resources for the prosperity of all North Carolinians. The Department employs approximately 2,000 employees. This position involves creating digital and large-format printed maps to support GIS requests and incident response mapping needs. It also includes providing data quality control on data maintained in enterprise databases, online, and other formats, performing spatial analysis upon request, and developing scripts to automate these processes. Additionally, the role provides technical expertise to support GIS users throughout the department. The candidate must live in Wake or adjacent counties or be willing to move at their own expense. No state vehicle is provided for this position.
