About The Position
The GIS Specialist supports effective use and maintenance of GIS, including maintenance of the electric and fiber connectivity model within GIS for use by OMS, map viewer, and engineering software. Collecting and maintaining accurate asset and inventory data in GIS. Ensuring the accuracy and usefulness of the platform data.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent with experience in GIS, utility infrastructure, or a degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated digital competency in common office software and the ability to learn and master others.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be regular in work attendance.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with ESRI mapping products
- Utility distribution experience
- Knowledge of SCI service area, roads and terrain
Responsibilities
- Maintenance of the electric and fiber connectivity model within GIS for use by OMS, map viewer, and engineering software.
- Collecting and maintaining accurate asset and inventory data in GIS.
- Ensuring the accuracy and usefulness of the platform data.
- Accurately create and maintain records, files and reports which will be used by SCI personnel.
- Collecting field data under varying terrain conditions.
- Assisting during storms and large outages, as needed.
