About The Position

The GIS Specialist is a permanent, full-time position in the Engineering Services Department at YVR. Reporting to the Manager, Engineering Services, the successful candidate plans, manages, and maintains GIS data and applications, and oversees the maintenance and integration of location information across software systems including Maximo, Propworks, CAD, and GIS. The role supports the needs of webGIS users and other data users, and helps ensure GIS information is systematically and accurately updated as construction changes occur.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of recent, related experience maintaining GIS datasets and GIS systems for a large organization, supplemented by a Bachelor of Technology in GIS or equivalent education, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Demonstrated experience using various ESRI ArcGIS desktop software products.
• Experience with all aspects of the ArcGIS Enterprise environment.
• Proven knowledge of computer programming.
• Familiarity with land surveying methodology and equipment.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• This position is open to Vancouver Airport Authority employees only.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with Vertigis Geocortex and Studio and Safe Software’s FME.
• French language skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, oversee, and implement GIS changes and integrations, working with webGIS users and data users to ensure the system meets their needs.
• Design and create maps for internal and external use.
• Provide training and support for the webGIS system, including leading classroom and one-on-one training for Airport Authority staff.
• Manage the GIS system and ensure construction changes are imported systematically and accurately.
• Develop systems to add attribute information for important GIS elements using as-builts and field surveys.
• Design, build, and run import scripts that combine CAD data with data from other sources to create or update GIS datasets.
• Oversee maintenance and integration of location information across Maximo, Propworks, CAD, and GIS.
