About The Position

Freese and Nichols is seeking a GIS intern to join our Stormwater team in Houston, Texas for the Summer of 2027. This role offers an opportunity to learn about geographic information systems and their application in planning, engineering, and infrastructure projects. The internship is an in-office position designed to foster connections within the team and the organization.

Requirements

• Current student pursuing a BS or MS degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or related degree
• Graduation date of December 2027 or later

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Python, ModelBuilder, CAD or MicroStation
• Student organizational involvement

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating and updating maps, figures, dashboards, and spatial datasets under supervision
• Support the configuration and testing of GIS services and web applications
• Help conduct basic spatial analysis, geoprocessing tasks, and data quality checks
• Assist with maintaining GIS databases, metadata, and project documentation
• Collaborate with project team members to support project deliverables and deadlines
