About The Position

The GIS Intern is responsible for operating GIS software to support the design, development, and implementation of project solutions. You will also provide accurate digital and physical maps to Uniti clients and associates.

Requirements

• An understanding of the relational database model
• An understanding on digitizing into a Geographic Information System
• Able to read and understand engineering plans, as-builts, and red lines
• Motivated with exceptional organizational skills, an ability to multitask, attention to detail, and effective communication skills – both written and verbal.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ample self-initiative who thrives in a fast paced, collaborative environment.
• Overall understanding of GIS mapping techniques and design.
• Knowledge of ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap) and Pro.
• Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Strong understanding of typical GIS best practices and theory.

Responsibilities

• Able to create, maintain, and update GIS databases (ESRI, 3-GIS).
• Deliver internal and external customer service.
• Perform quality control and assurance to a Geometric and Topological Network.
• Able to create, edit, and support Google Earth’s KMZ files.
• Create layers, Geodatabases, Feature Classes, and Shapefiles.
• Produce accurate maps within ArcGIS desktop (ArcMap) and ArcGIS PRO.
• Accept and respond to GIS database corrections.
