About The Position

Audubon is currently seeking a GIS Intern to join our team. The GIS Intern will support the GIS team with geospatial data management, mapping, quality control, and project support activities for active survey, transmission, pipeline, substation, and infrastructure projects. This role will assist with maintaining GIS databases, processing survey and field data, supporting dashboards and web mapping applications, and preparing maps and spatial deliverables for internal teams and clients. The position will provide hands-on experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online/Portal, hosted feature layers, geodatabases, and project-based GIS workflows in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in GIS, Geography, Geoscience, Geology, Environmental Science Engineering, Planning, or a related field
  • Basic understanding of GIS principles, cartography, coordinate systems, and spatial data management
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, or similar GIS software
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform data review and quality checks
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively in a team environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the creation, editing, organization, and maintenance of GIS databases and spatial datasets
  • Support processing of survey and field data received in formats such as CSV, Shapefile, and DWG for inclusion in project geodatabases
  • Perform data validation and QA/QC checks to improve spatial and attribute data accuracy, consistency, and completeness
  • Assist with updating hosted feature layers, web viewers, dashboards, and other ArcGIS Online/Portal deliverables
  • Prepare maps, exhibits, figures, and presentation-quality GIS products for engineering, survey, environmental, and project teams
  • Help support routing, alignment, and Management of Change workflows by organizing and updating GIS information
  • Assist with base map preparation and the integration of survey, environmental, property, and imagery datasets
