At GHD we are looking for a new GIS Intern to join the Location Intelligence team at our Eureka or Santa Rosa - CA office. In this role you will create spatial data sets, maintain databases, analyze spatial data, and prepare digital maps through geographic information systems (GIS). Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Geospatial Science degree or focused academic degree or certificate program.
  • No experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare mobile digital maps and data for field data collection.
  • Prepare online digital maps and data for desktop review and public access.
  • Evaluate data from multiple sources to determine the quality and ensure data is clean and accurate.
  • Geographic Information System (GIS): Prepare and deliver GIS figures for reporting and planning.
  • Data Management: Gather, compile, migrate and convert data sets for project needs from a variety of internal and external sources (e.g. conversion between CADD and GIS).
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, and industry best practices.
  • Document Preparation: Gather and summarize data for reports.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
