About The Position
MINNKOTA POWER COOPERATIVE GIS INTERN POSITION Minnkota Power Cooperative is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented student to join our team as a GIS Intern for the summer of 2026. The internship, located at our Grand Forks, ND offices, offers hands-on experience supporting the Power Delivery Engineering department. The pay range for this internship begins at $24.95 per hour. Appropriate pay will be determined based on a candidate's level of completed education and relevant experience. This is a temporary, non-benefited position. Closing date to submit applications is April 24, 2026. Position Summary The GIS Intern position reports to the Transmission Engineering/GIS Manager. This position will assist the GIS department in the following duties:
Requirements
- Individual must have completed their Sophomore or Junior year of Geography or related field
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Working knowledge of the ArcGIS software suite, including ArcGIS Pro, required
- Ability to manage time effectively under time constraints
- Demonstrated ability to conduct research, analyze information, and support development of plans
- Clear communication skills with the ability to collaborate and present information to others
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Portal for ArcGIS or ArcGIS Online preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist staff in updating and correcting geospatial data
- Modify feature classes in an enterprise geodatabase
- Edit attribute table data
- Assist in GIS data entry and retrieval
- Create maps and map series for projects
- Update maps as needed
- Run basic queries to extract records from datasets
- Navigate Minnkota’s ERP system for asset information
