About The Position

Minnkota Power Cooperative is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented student to join our team as a GIS Intern for the summer of 2026. The internship, located at our Grand Forks, ND offices, offers hands-on experience supporting the Power Delivery Engineering department. The pay range for this internship begins at $24.95 per hour. Appropriate pay will be determined based on a candidate's level of completed education and relevant experience. This is a temporary, non-benefited position. Closing date to submit applications is April 24, 2026. The GIS Intern position reports to the Transmission Engineering/GIS Manager. This position will assist the GIS department in the following duties: Assist staff in updating and correcting geospatial data Modify feature classes in an enterprise geodatabase Edit attribute table data Assist in GIS data entry and retrieval Cartographic Tasks Create maps and map series for projects Update maps as needed Run basic queries to extract records from datasets Navigate Minnkota’s ERP system for asset information What You’ll Gain Real-world experience supporting GIS in a dynamic environment Mentorship from experienced professionals in the field Opportunity to contribute to an important industry Goals and Objectives An employee filling this role is expected to meet changing and unique goals and objectives, as established by their supervisor, related to the broader area in which the employee is assigned.

Requirements

Individual must have completed their Sophomore or Junior year of Geography or related field
Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
Working knowledge of the ArcGIS software suite, including ArcGIS Pro, required
Ability to manage time effectively under time constraints
Demonstrated ability to conduct research, analyze information, and support development of plans
Clear communication skills with the ability to collaborate and present information to others
