About The Position

Our Client is seeking an experienced GIS Governance Coordinator to lead and strengthen enterprise GIS governance initiatives across the organization. This is not a traditional GIS Analyst, GIS Developer, or GIS Manager position. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in GIS governance, enterprise data governance, stakeholder coordination, and GIS data management. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining GIS governance practices, standardizing GIS processes, supporting enterprise GIS strategy, and ensuring high-quality geospatial data management. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional business and technical teams to establish governance standards, improve data quality, and support strategic GIS initiatives. Note: This is not a GIS development or GIS administration role. Candidates should demonstrate experience with GIS governance, data governance, and enterprise GIS management.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of experience working with Enterprise GIS environments and GIS data management.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience applying GIS governance and data governance principles.
  • Strong knowledge of GIS Principles
  • Strong knowledge of Enterprise GIS
  • Strong knowledge of Geospatial Data Management
  • Strong knowledge of Data Governance
  • Strong knowledge of Data Stewardship
  • Strong knowledge of Metadata Management
  • Strong knowledge of Data Lifecycle Management

  • Experience coordinating enterprise governance initiatives across multiple business units.
  • Strong project coordination and stakeholder management experience.
  • Experience researching, analyzing, documenting, and improving business processes and workflows.
  • Strong experience writing governance documentation, standards, and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal, written, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Experience supporting Enterprise GIS Governance Programs.

  • Familiarity with transportation or public sector GIS environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support enterprise GIS governance initiatives across the organization.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve GIS governance policies, standards, and documentation.
  • Coordinate governance activities across multiple business divisions and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure consistent adoption of GIS governance practices.
  • Support GIS strategic planning, governance roadmaps, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare governance reports, executive presentations, dashboards, and leadership briefings.
  • Promote enterprise GIS data quality, stewardship, metadata management, and lifecycle management.
  • Assist with GIS inventory management, workforce role standardization, and governance initiatives.
  • Develop workflow documentation, governance processes, and business procedures.
  • Coordinate governance meetings, working groups, and stakeholder communications.
  • Monitor governance compliance and recommend process improvements.
  • Collaborate with business leaders, GIS professionals, and technical teams to support enterprise GIS objectives.
  • Support special projects related to GIS governance and enterprise data management.
