About The Position

This is a temporary position for a GIS Data Collection Specialist, with two openings available. The role involves performing GIS data collection and verification of various utility assets such as Electric, Water, Wastewater, Gas, and Telecommunication utilities and infrastructure. The specialist will operate handheld data collection equipment, perform light GIS editing and data manipulation, and assist with data analysis and reporting. The position also requires accurate mapping note-taking, data input into engineering computer systems, and processing information as needed. Experience with mapping instruments like total stations, GPS equipment, and other conventional mapping equipment is necessary. The role may also involve preparing reports and performing information gathering and analysis as directed. Requirements

  • High school Diploma or GED Certificate.
  • 1 year experience in the GIS field.
  • Valid state driver's license (subject to motor vehicle review).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, Geographic Information Systems or related field.
  • ESRI Arc GIS Field Map and Survey 123 experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs GIS data collection and verification of assets including but not limited to Electric, Water, Wastewater, Gas, and Telecommunication utilities and infrastructure related to utilities.
  • Operates handheld data collection equipment including phones, tablets, surface pads, computers and supporting equipment.
  • Performs light GIS editing and manipulating of utility company's data.
  • Completes GIS data analysis and completes simple reports and requested by supervision.
  • Assists in office as needed.
  • Performs data collection and take accurate and clear mapping notes.
  • Inputs data from the field into engineering computer systems.
  • Processes information as needed.
  • Accurately runs mapping instruments including total stations with data collectors, GPS equipment, and other conventional mapping equipment.
  • Prepares or assists with the preparation of scheduled and/or ad hoc statistical narrative reports; performs information gathering and analysis and/or forecasting, as specifically directed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
