About The Position

The City of Aurora's Parks, Recreation and Open Space (PROS) Department is seeking a GIS and CMMS Supervisor to lead the team responsible for the department’s Geographical Information System (GIS) and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). This role involves connecting internal and external customers to high-quality asset-centric spatial information through creative and reliable technical solutions and support. The primary responsibilities include leading and motivating staff, developing and implementing a vision for the use of PROS enterprise systems, seeking innovative solutions, managing workload, and leading complex GIS or CMMS initiatives. This is a working supervisor position, performing at the Senior GIS/CMMS Analyst level, and ensuring the team has the necessary resources for success. The PROS department manages over 8,000 acres of open space, 100+ parks, 180+ athletic fields, over 100 miles of trails, three nature centers, two reservoirs, five recreation centers, five golf courses, aquatic facilities, and a large urban forestry program, all while being committed to exceptional public service and responsible stewardship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geography, Asset Management, drafting or related field.
  • Five (5) years of GIS operating experience.
  • Two (2) years of Asset Management/CMMS experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of Esri GIS software suite including web and mobile applications, cartographic design, and data architecture.
  • Proficient knowledge of ArcGIS Online and Esri Solutions.
  • Proficient knowledge of CMMS/EAM software.
  • Knowledge of asset management and business intelligence/reporting processes.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, project management, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to coordinate, prioritize, and assign tasks.
  • Ability to specify and enforce project deliverables and keep stakeholders apprised of the deliverable schedule.
  • Ability to perform geospatial modeling, analysis, and data manipulation.
  • Ability to analyze and compile technical information and reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, users, consultants, individuals from other agencies, and citizens.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and sound judgment to resolve problems and manage challenging situations.
  • Colorado driver's license with a good driving history.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a GIS and CMMS Application strategic plan and vision, including meeting core duties, prioritizing user requests, and planning for future endeavors.
  • Partner with various department teams (Planning, Design & Construction, Park Operations, Open Space and Forestry, Golf, Recreation, Marketing, Business Services) to enhance business practices with GIS and CMMS solutions and analytics.
  • Lead, supervise, and evaluate the work of PROS GIS and CMMS staff, including mentorship, setting expectations, providing feedback, coordinating training, and implementing HR procedures.
  • Manage service desk tickets or request management software to adhere to established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Scope, coordinate, implement, and support technology projects with internal staff and third-party vendors.
  • Identify areas for efficiencies, including automation and integrations.
  • Develop PROS GIS and CMMS procedures, technical standards, and training in coordination with City-wide GIS, PROS project managers, and end-users.
  • Serve as the department's point of contact for GIS/CMMS application matters and liaison with City-wide GIS and CMMS teams.
  • Stay current on the latest GIS, CMMS, analytics, and asset management trends and make recommendations for implementation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
