About The Position

The GIS Analyst is responsible for supporting the quality, integrity, accessibility, and effective use of Geographic Information System (GIS) data at PSEG Long Island. This role partners with internal and external stakeholders to identify business needs, analyze data, document requirements, and develop solutions that improve operational performance and decision-making. The analyst serves as a subject matter expert for GIS quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC), user training, data retrieval, reporting, ensuring that electric system asset information is maintained in accordance with business, regulatory, and departmental requirements. The successful candidate combines strong analytical skills, technical expertise, and business acumen to transform complex data into actionable insights while supporting the continuous improvement of GIS processes, data quality, and user adoption.

Requirements

Bachelors degree in Engineering, Science, Business, Computer Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum of 3 years GIS work experience.
Experience with GIS applications, geospatial data management, and quality assurance/quality control processes.
Proficient in MS Office Tools.
Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to support small, simple projects and customer requests by documenting requirements, establishing project scope and objectives, determining best methods for data extraction and report preparation.
Excellent teamwork, facilitation, relationship building, and negotiation skills.
Ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.
Must possess and maintain a valid US drivers license with a safe and satisfactory driving history.
Compliance with the Department of Energy's regulation 10 CFR 810 is required.
As an employee of PSEG Long Island, you should be aware that during storm/outage restoration efforts, you may be required to perform functions different from normal operations and work extended hours beyond your regular work schedule. You may also be required to work on premise or in an alternate location as directed by the company.

Responsibilities

Perform QA/QC reviews of GIS updates and session editing activities to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of electric system asset data.
Validate work order data transfers into GIS and ensure compliance with established business rules, standards, and procedures.
Analyze data quality trends, identify deficiencies, and recommend corrective actions to improve system reliability and data accuracy.
Collaborate with Mapping, Engineering, Operations, and Information Technology teams to resolve data discrepancies and support continuous process improvement.
Respond to requests for GIS and asset-related data from internal business partners, external agencies, and regulatory stakeholders, including Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests.
Extract, validate, analyze, and package geospatial and asset data into meaningful reports, maps, dashboards, and other deliverables.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to define reporting requirements and develop solutions that meet operational and strategic needs.
Ensure data requests are fulfilled accurately, securely, and in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Partner with stakeholders to identify business needs, document requirements, and evaluate opportunities for process and system improvements.
Analyze business processes and operational challenges, leveraging GIS data and technology to recommend effective solutions.
Work closely with internal departments and external organizations to understand information requirements and develop reporting and analytical solutions.
Provide support for special projects and initiatives related to GIS, asset management, and electric system data.
