GIS Analyst
About The Position
As a GIS Analyst, you will support complex geospatial applications and spatial data initiatives across multiple business units. This role involves collaborating with development teams, project managers, and stakeholders to analyze, develop, maintain, and enhance GIS solutions that support web-based, client/server, mobile, and data-driven applications. The successful candidate will leverage GIS technologies to streamline spatial data processes, support application development efforts, and ensure the delivery of high-quality geospatial solutions. You will provide technical guidance, evaluate emerging technologies, support application testing and implementation activities, and serve as a key liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders. This position requires strong GIS expertise, application development knowledge, spatial database experience, and a commitment to continuous learning and process improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Geography, Cartography, Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in GIS, cartography, CADD, or a related geospatial discipline.
- 4+ years of experience developing user interfaces, menus, workflows, and GIS applications.
- Experience performing complex spatial analysis and producing reports based on business requirements.
- Strong experience with ArcGIS Online (AGOL) and ArcGIS Portal environments.
- Experience developing and supporting ArcGIS Experience Builder applications.
- Experience creating and maintaining GIS dashboards and reporting solutions.
- 4+ years of experience developing GIS solutions that create, maintain, or leverage geospatial basemap information.
- Experience creating and maintaining basemaps and tile cache solutions.
- Experience performing imagery analysis and spatial data interpretation.
- Advanced SQL skills with experience developing database scripts, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and SSIS packages.
- Experience maintaining spatial databases, validating GIS data, updating metadata, and documenting database procedures.
- 4+ years of experience performing unit testing, system testing, regression testing, and automated testing.
- 2+ years of experience developing applications using C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, XML, AJAX, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and T-SQL.
- Experience working with Microsoft Power Apps.
- Knowledge of ADA compliance and accessibility standards.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional technical and business teams.
- Experience supporting multiple application platforms and technologies in enterprise environments.

- Experience with Microsoft ADO technologies.
- Experience using Git for source control and version management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with Helix or similar application lifecycle management tools.

Responsibilities
- Support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of GIS applications across web, client/server, mobile, and enterprise platforms.
- Collaborate with development teams and project managers to ensure project milestones, quality standards, and deadlines are achieved.
- Analyze business requirements and develop geospatial solutions to address complex spatial data needs.
- Create, maintain, and optimize geospatial datasets, maps, dashboards, and GIS applications.
- Design and develop basemaps, tile caches, and imagery analysis solutions.
- Support ArcGIS Online (AGOL) and Portal environments, including configuration and administration activities.
- Develop dashboards, web applications, and user interfaces for geospatial data visualization and analysis.
- Conduct complex spatial analyses and prepare reports based on stakeholder requirements.
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements to existing GIS solutions and processes.
- Create and support testing plans, implementation activities, and quality assurance processes.
- Maintain and enhance spatial databases, metadata, and geospatial documentation.
- Serve as a technical liaison between stakeholders, development teams, and third-party partners.
- Support application troubleshooting, issue resolution, and ongoing system maintenance.
- Ensure solutions comply with accessibility, data quality, and organizational standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts and remain current with emerging GIS and application development technologies.
Benefits
- The hourly range for roles of this nature are $40.00 to $80.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
