About The Position

The GIS Analyst will support source data review, geodatabase design, polygon production, attribution, topology validation, metadata development, and quality assurance for the national Port and Waterway Geospatial Dataset. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Esri geospatial tools or equivalent platforms and will be able to apply consistent technical methods across complex maritime, coastal, river, canal, Great Lakes, offshore, and multipart geospatial features. This position is contingent upon award.

Requirements

  • At least five years of professional GIS experience, including polygon production, geodatabase design, attribute-schema implementation, topology validation, metadata development, source lineage documentation, and use of Esri geospatial tools or equivalent capabilities.
  • Must be proficient in English, both written and verbal, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Successful results of preemployment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screen.
  • Comply with company drug and alcohol policy.
  • Be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate’s start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with maritime, hydrographic, transportation, infrastructure, emergency management, or authoritative Government geospatial datasets is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented, methodical, and capable of applying repeatable geospatial production standards across a large national dataset.

Responsibilities

  • Review Government-furnished inventory items and cross-reference them against the NAVCEN Port Status application and Harmonized Waterways Dataset Explorer.
  • Identify corresponding features, applicable identifiers, standardized and alternate names, responsible COTP, available geometry, source lineage, and data discrepancies.
  • Develop and maintain source crosswalk data, support the decision register, implement the approved data schema, produce and validate polygons, perform topology checks, document metadata, and support incremental production package delivery.
  • Resolve geometry and attribution issues, document source lineage, identify discrepancies that require Government adjudication, and support both automated and manual validation processes.

  • Compensation range: $33.65/hr - $45.67/hr
