About The Position

The GIS Analyst will be responsible for organizing and managing a GIS platform, producing data layers, maps, graphs, and reports using GIS technology. This role involves compiling data, displaying spatial relationships, and collaborating with other divisions to improve work processes through GIS utilization. Key responsibilities include network security, user account administration, software installation and administration, license management, ArcGIS administration, systems architecture, creation of web services, data integration and transformation, and troubleshooting applications and data processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in geography, surveying, computer science, urban planning, or related field (equivalent experience will be considered)
  • Four years or more of relevant experience, with at least 2 years of GIS specific experience
  • Knowledge of use of ESRI roads and highways database
  • Linear referencing concepts
  • Knowledge of latest principles, practices, and techniques of GIS
  • Experience with road network assets such as storm sewer, watermain, sanitary sewer, parcel data, sidewalks, street lighting and signs
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Communication skills to collaborate at all levels of the organization
  • Develop smart data solutions to deliver data in a timely manner

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Cityworks and integration with ESRI
  • Understanding of general local government operations and how GIS can tie these platforms and operations together
  • Understanding of best practices of management with GIS including policies, operations and personnel
  • Understanding of best practices of database administration
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS products (ArcGIS Pro, ArcCatalog, and ArcToolbox)

Responsibilities

  • Organize and Manage a GIS Platform with appropriate personnel and resources

  • Compile data from remote sensing devices and cartographs and enter it into GIS database
  • Display spatial relationships and linear networks
  • Collaborate with Planning & Zoning Division staff for ways to utilize GIS to improve the work of the Division
