This position is responsible for performing various duties associated with the Arkansas State Parks Information Management System and Geographic Information System (GIS), including feature development, map production, data entry and analysis, web application development, and database maintenance. The GIS Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting geographic and spatial data to support the State of Arkansas' decision-making processes. The role requires expertise in geographic information systems (GIS) technologies, spatial analysis, data visualization, and mapping. The GIS Analyst will work with a variety of stakeholders to create and maintain geospatial databases, maps, and reports that inform policy, planning, and operational decisions. This position also requires strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate technical data in a clear and accessible manner. Applicants will be required to perform tasks in an outdoor environment, including GPS data collection, resource and asset mapping, and other field work. Assists the Parks Division in the geospatial support of park operations, emergency services, planning & development, program services, marketing & revenue, and shared services. Occasional in-state travel may be required.
