About The Position

Performs difficult and complex professional Geographic Information Systems (GIS) work involving the analysis, design, development, implementation and maintenance of GIS projects and applications for the County of Kaua'i; and performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate degree in physical or natural science, geography, engineering, planning, computer science or a related field.
Four (4) years of experience in GIS analysis and utilizing spatial databases.

Responsibilities

Provides custom application development of the GIS database and streamlines and enables efficient use of GIS software, including metadata/procedural documentation and creating automated routines.
Provides advanced analysis and custom application development of the GIS data, including analysis requests by departments, and evaluating potential GIS software for incorporation into the County's GIS.
Researches, analyzes, and designs GIS projects.
Provides project management for the development of special GIS related projects from inception to completion, including databases as needed to support project goals.
Manages and develops data, including new digital data as required on a project level basis or through departmental request, developing the graphical component and database design and structure.
Provides graphical display of digital data in the form of cartographic map products.
Provides technical assistance and training as needed in all facets of GIS, including software use, overlay processing techniques, analysis, periodic data development and database manipulation.
Attends and participates in professional and other group meetings and training.
Stays abreast of new trends and innovation.
Assists in the supervision and training of lower-level staff and/or directing the work of lower-level GIS analysts.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
