About The Position

The Syracuse City School District is seeking a dedicated Girls Varsity Wrestling Head Coach for the PSLA program for the Winter 2026 season. The district is committed to innovation and transformation to ensure all students graduate high school college and career ready. The district serves approximately 19,000 students across 35 schools and programs. Successful educators in the district are passionately committed to urban education, believe all students can learn at high levels, and are dedicated to serving urban students, schools, and communities. The district offers 120 different athletic teams for students in grades 7-12, with a coaching staff of certified, dedicated individuals who work hard and care about student athletes. The modified program (grades 7-8) emphasizes skill development, participation, discipline, enjoyment, competition, and the value of hard work, rather than winning. The high school program (freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity) focuses on refining skills, higher-level competition, academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.

Responsibilities

Serve as the Girls Varsity Wrestling Head Coach for the PSLA program.
Develop and implement training programs to refine skills and prepare student athletes for competition.
Emphasize academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship at the high school level.
Foster discipline, enjoyment of play, competition, and dedication to hard work.
Manage and lead athletic teams for students in grades 7-12.
