About The Position

This position is for a Girls Varsity Soccer Coach at Port Huron High School for the Spring Sports Season of 2026-2027. The coach will be directly responsible for all aspects of the soccer program, including player personnel, practice sessions, equipment care, and supervision of players during all team functions. The role requires adherence to all school, District, League, and MHSAA rules and policies, effective communication with various stakeholders, and prioritizing athlete safety and welfare. The coach must also be responsive to administrative direction, support the district's athletic program goals, and participate in professional development. A professional image and positive role modeling are expected.

Requirements

  • Must have documented evidence of organizational skills, knowledge, experience, preparation and aptitudes in the above sport commensurate with the level of the position.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work with and motivate young people and adults.
  • Must be available during the time requirements of the position.
  • Must be able to bend, twist, stoop, squat and lift up to 50 pounds in assisting students, if needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in CPR and first aid preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible for all matters relative to program including but not limited to, player personnel, practice sessions, care and maintenance of equipment and supervision of players during practice, games, travel and other team functions.
  • Be knowledgeable of and consistently enforce school, District, League and state association (MHSAA) rules and policies.
  • Effectively communicate with players, officials, fellow coaches, parents, administrators and community members.
  • Ensure that the safety and welfare of the athletes is a top priority in the organization and implementation of practice and game situations.
  • Be responsive to instructions and directions of the building Athletic Director, District Director of Athletics and other appropriate school administrators.
  • Support and promote activities designed to further the District’s goal of a coordinated, sequential athletic program.
  • Participate in activities designed to contribute to program and professional growth, including CPR, Concussion and first aid training.
  • Present a professional image and provide a positive role model in terms of personal habits, language and conduct.
