About The Position

Harvard-Westlake School is seeking a Girls Soccer Program Head with expertise in sport knowledge, administrative skills, leadership, Harvard-Westlake cultural aptitude, and character. This role is responsible for leading the girls' soccer program from seventh through twelfth grade, fostering a positive and successful environment for student-athletes, coaches, and parents. The Program Head will set the vision, manage staff, develop strategic plans, and ensure the program aligns with the school's academic and cultural values.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and a clear vision for the girls' soccer program, motivating students, coaches, and parents.
  • Set clear expectations for students and guide them in meeting those expectations.
  • Assemble and manage a cohesive coaching staff committed to the school's best interests.
  • Act as a stabilizing force during adversity, providing timely direction.
  • Set challenging and realistic program goals and develop plans to achieve them.
  • Stay current with sport trends and implement them at Harvard-Westlake.
  • Develop and execute consistently successful strategic plans.
  • Teach students how to execute strategic plans.
  • Build connections within the local, state, and national soccer community to attract coaches and student-athletes.
  • Commit to continuing education in the sport by attending at least one conference or clinic annually.
  • Implement appropriate training techniques and teaching methods for middle and high school levels.
  • Provide meaningful assistance to students pursuing the sport beyond high school.
  • Oversee the vertical integration of the program (grades 7-12), including hiring coaches and developing philosophy and skill progressions.
  • Communicate effectively with Sports Performance, Sports Medicine, and other athletic department support staff.
  • Schedule practices and games for all program levels, considering the school's mission.
  • Collaborate with the equipment manager and maintenance staff to ensure equipment availability and facility readiness.
  • Maintain basic computer skills and complete necessary paperwork for school, league, and CIF requirements.
  • Attend all mandatory school, league, and CIF meetings.
  • Understand and accommodate students' academic commitments, ensuring opportunities for academic success.
  • Instill a mindset of possible success in students.
  • Provide rationale for program decisions and ensure students understand the purpose of endeavors.
  • Prioritize students' academic education.
  • Be respectful of the time and expertise of teachers, staff, and support staff.
  • Adhere to all school rules and procedures, seeking assistance when needed.
