About The Position

Administrative duties include vertical integration of the program, communication with support staff, scheduling, equipment management, and completing necessary paperwork. Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership with a clear vision for the program, motivating students, coaches, and parents.
  • Set clear expectations for students and provide a path for them to meet those expectations.
  • Assemble a cohesive coaching staff committed to the best interests of Harvard-Westlake School and its families.
  • Serve as a stabilizing force during adversity, providing direction when challenges arise.
  • Set challenging and realistic goals for the program and develop a plan for achieving them.
  • Stay current with sport trends and implement them at Harvard-Westlake School.
  • Develop and execute successful strategic plans for the sport.
  • Teach students how to execute strategic plans.
  • Connect with the local, state, and national sport community to attract coaches and qualified student-athletes.
  • Commit to continuing education in the sport by attending at least one conference or clinic annually.
  • Understand training techniques appropriate for middle school and high school levels and employ effective teaching methods.
  • Provide meaningful assistance to students pursuing the sport beyond high school.
  • Ensure vertical integration of the program from seventh through twelfth grade, including hiring coaches and developing program philosophy and skill progressions.
  • Communicate effectively with Sports Performance, Sports Medicine, and other athletic department support staff.
  • Schedule practices and games for all program levels, aligning with the mission of Harvard-Westlake School.
  • Work with the equipment manager and maintenance staff to ensure equipment availability and facility readiness.
  • Possess basic computer skills and complete necessary paperwork for school, league, and CIF requirements.
  • Attend all mandatory school, league, and CIF meetings.
  • Understand and respect the time students dedicate to academics, providing opportunities for academic success.
