Girls Soccer Head Coach
About The Position
The Girls Soccer Head Coach demonstrates knowledge of soccer and helps each participant develop a high level of skill, discipline, sportsmanship, and self-esteem. The coach plans and oversees an articulated program as part of an elementary-to-varsity continuum. The role includes program and staff oversight, team scheduling, fundraising and program fund management, compliance with KHSAA and Board of Education requirements, practice planning, coordination with the strength and conditioning coach, communication with parents or guardians, and regular work with school administration. As a condition of employment, state law requires a national and state criminal history background check. The employee must also provide a letter from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services confirming clearance to hire based on no substantiated findings of child abuse or neglect in the Cabinet’s records.
Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of the sport to be coached.
- Complete a national and state criminal history background check as required by state law.
- Provide a Cabinet for Health and Family Services letter stating the employee is clear to hire based on no substantiated findings of child abuse or neglect in the Cabinet’s records.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of soccer.
- Help participants achieve a high level of skill and develop discipline, sportsmanship, and self-esteem.
- Plan and oversee an articulated program as part of an elementary-to-varsity continuum.
- Oversee and, when applicable, hire competent assistant and feeder-program coaches.
- Schedule team contests.
- Fundraise and balance program funds.
- Adhere to KHSAA and Board of Education requirements for coaches.
- Create and lead practices to improve the team.
- Work with the strength and conditioning coach to schedule sessions that improve athletes’ overall physical fitness.
- Communicate team expectations and schedules to parents and guardians.
- Work regularly with school administration.
