About The Position

The Academy for Technology and the Classics (ATC) is seeking a Middle School Girls Basketball Coach to build and grow a culture of competing with class and team improvement. As an academics-first institution, ATC believes in developing well-rounded students through extracurricular activities like sports, alongside academic scholarship. This role is within the Athletic department and is crucial for fostering student-athlete development.

Requirements

Must be licensed to coach in New Mexico.
Proficiency in the social-emotional dimensions of coaching, demonstrating the ability to build effective relationships and rapport.

Possession of a current CDL (Commercial Driver's License) for an additional bonus.

Responsibilities

Management and development of the middle school girls basketball program, overseeing the overall middle school basketball program.
Development and implementation of both off-season and in-season training programs, including building team unity and supporting student-athletes in multiple extracurricular activities.
Designing practice structure, scheduling, and objective athlete evaluation methods.
Providing supervision and ensuring safety for athletes at all times, including transportation to away games, emergency preparedness, first aid, and accounting for athletes at dismissal.
Effective fiscal and materials management, including inventorying equipment, submitting purchase requests, and assisting the athletic director with staffing home contests.
Involving program participants in fundraising and community service activities, and communicating fundraising efforts to the athletic director and school.
Ensuring timely communication and implementation of NMAA and ATC policies and procedures, including academic and disciplinary eligibility requirements.
Becoming a member of the New Mexico Coaches’ Association.
Choosing awards for the basketball team and assisting with awards ceremonies.
