The Girls Head Varsity Basketball Coach is responsible for organizing athletes and teaching them the fundamentals of the sport. This role involves training athletes to compete as a team and individually, developing and communicating clear goals, and maintaining open communication with scholars, parents, other coaches, and the Athletic Director. The coach will demonstrate a strong knowledge base of best practices in coaching, support other athletic programs, and model/teach necessary skills. A key aspect of this position is supporting scholar academic expectations and achievements, understanding Grand Rapids policies and procedures related to athletics, and promoting the scholar-athlete code of conduct. The coach will connect athletic experiences with life experiences, foster an atmosphere of teamwork, and become an integral part of the Grand Rapids community. Additionally, the coach must model good sportsmanship, create a safe and healthy environment, understand their leadership impact, and ensure game and practice attire is professional and appropriate. The position also includes performing other duties as assigned.
