As a Gifted Teacher, you will develop lesson plans that align with established guidelines and NAGC best practices while fostering effective relationships with students, staff members, and parents.   • Master's degree in Education or a related field is required.
  • Valid state certification for Gifted Education or a willingness to work towards certification in Gifted Education in alignment with state requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a gifted education program that adheres to the company's philosophy and objectives as outlined in the adopted courses of study.
  • Create purposeful lesson plans that utilize effective teaching strategies, aligning with NAGC's best practices, such as using varied instructional strategies to engage diverse learners and promoting critical and creative thinking.
  • Assess student needs and abilities through regular evaluations, maintaining accurate and complete records to inform instructional practices.
  • Maximize educational achievement by employing differentiated instruction techniques that respect and respond to student diversity, as recommended by NAGC.
  • Implement self-contained gifted practices and inclusion strategies that promote engagement and achievement for all learners, ensuring that each student receives appropriate challenges and opportunities for growth.
  • Conduct frequent diagnostic assessments to evaluate student learning and provide appropriate activities that address their diverse needs.
  • Coordinate class field trips and prepare students for state-required achievement assessments.
  • Stay current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory, as well as in best practices for gifted education.
  • Assist in the ongoing revision of the curriculum, including the selection of instructional materials that reflect NAGC standards for gifted education and align with the CSUSA Educational Model.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and aligns with the maturity and interests of gifted students.
  • Maintain a positive rapport with students while demonstrating patience and nurturing.
  • Ensure the classroom is clean, safe, and showcases student-generated work.
  • Implement relevant policies governing student conduct and develop reasonable rules to maintain order fairly and consistently.
  • Develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines and objectives.
  • Plan individual and group learning activities tailored to meet instructional objectives and student needs, incorporating NAGC's recommendations for flexible grouping and curriculum compacting.
  • Participate in curriculum planning meetings with other staff members and incorporate diagnostic information as required in students' Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Take necessary precautions to protect supplies, equipment, and materials.
  • Establish cooperative relationships with parents and guardians, communicating clearly and positively using appropriate mediums.
  • Collaborate with administration, other staff members, and CSUSA while maintaining confidentiality regarding student records.
  • Participate in parent communication activities.
  • Involve in extracurricular activities to support a positive school culture and provide additional support for students and staff as required.
